Ashley Kimberley came back to painting after years searching and processing incredible grief rooted in her body and spirit. Abstract painting became the language through which she found expression, power, and even joy again.
Devoted to authenticity over comfort, Ashley Kimberley finds resonance between complex and beautiful abstract moments using intensity and a visceral quality. You can see the artist’s movement on the surface. Ashley has lovingly called the subject of her paintings “my own selfish truth,” because the painting process is a source of fulfillment, a source of healing, and deeply personal.
Kimberley learned to oil paint as a teenager and pursued art and design after graduating from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in interdisciplinary visual art. Ashley Kimberley lives in Bellingham, WA. Her painting studio is in Bellingham’s Fairhaven district.
